There were two interesting characters in this trilogy, named Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, who were not included in the movies. I wonder why. They lived in the woods away from civilization. Tom had some kind of power over living things and spirits. He called Goldberry the river daughter. What fascinated me was that they moved around in their kitchen without getting in each other's way.
